Your bathroom is one of the most important rooms in your home. For some of us it’s the only time we get to be alone. Your bathroom can be more than just a place to get clean. With some planning, you can turn your home bathroom into a spa. Make it your personal sanctuary.
Here are some ideas:
Incorporate natural décor
Plants, flowers, and other natural elements can help to create a relaxing and spa-like atmosphere in your bathroom. Exotic orchids do very well in a bathroom setting because of the humidity. Keep one on a shelf to add a touch of rare beauty to the room.
Declutter your bathroom
A cluttered bathroom can be chaotic and overwhelming, so it’s important to declutter and streamline your space. Clutter can weigh heavy on us, even if it’s just subconscious. A clean space can add to the feeling of calm in a room. Get rid of any unnecessary items and organize the ones that you want to keep. Incorporate plenty of storage space for all of your bathroom essentials. A well-organized bathroom is a must-have for any peaceful spa-like experience.
Stock plush bath towels
Soft, fluffy, luxurious towels are a must-have for any spa bathroom. Choose towels that are made from a high-quality material, such as Egyptian cotton, and that are the perfect size for your bathtub or shower. I personally love bath sheets. They are enormous and you can wrap up comfortably in them after a bath. It’s also a good idea to have an equally luxurious absorbent robe on hand for after a bath or shower.
Install a new shower head
An updated shower head can make a big difference in the overall feel of your bathroom. I like to choose a shower head that has more than one head and a hose. It makes it easy to care for your hair and to clean the tub. You can get shower heads that offer multiple settings from a powerful massage to a gentle rain.
Use color to create calm
The colors you choose for your bathroom can have a big impact on the overall atmosphere. Choose calming colors, such as blues, greens, and whites, to create a relaxing and spa-like feel. You can add color to your walls or with a shower curtain. Or keep the room neutral and add color through your towels and accessories.
Upgrade your toiletries
Using high-quality toiletries can make your bath experience feel more luxurious. Choose bath and body products that are made with natural ingredients and that smell amazing. You can find beautiful scented products in the bath and body section of our shop. Another way to upgrade your bathroom is to use a luxury shampoo and conditioner. Luxury does not necessarily have to mean expensive. Find products that suit your hair and skin type in a scent that you find appealing.
Soften floors with rugs
A soft rug can help make your bathroom feel more inviting and luxurious. Choose a rug that is made from a natural fiber, such as cotton, and that is the perfect size for your bathroom floor. You’ll want something fluffy and absorbent for when you step out of a bath or shower. I also like to have small rugs in front of the sink and toilet. No one wants to step onto a cold floor in the middle of the night.
Brighten your bathroom with reflective surfaces
Mirrors and other reflective surfaces can help to brighten your bathroom and make it feel more spacious. Choose mirrors that are framed in a simple, elegant style. Add glass shelving to add to the feeling of lightness. Keep any chrome fixtures clean and polished. It can add an air of richness to the room.
Add aromatherapy touches
Bath salts and sugar scrubs made with essential oils make a lovely addition to your spa experience. For long luxurious baths, you may want to add some scented candles to the room or sprinkle flower petals in your bath. Personally, I don’t like to add anything to the bath that can clog up the plumbing, so I opt for bath teas that come in an oversized tea bag. They are full of dried flowers to enhance your bath. You can also get some with buttermilk that is known to soften skin. They impart their natural benefits while keeping the tub free of debris.
